Our Teaching Philosophy

We don’t see meditation as a way to empty the mind or to reach some flawless zen state. It’s more like learning to stay present with whatever arises—the racing thoughts, the planning tendencies, and even that odd itch that always shows up a few minutes into sitting.

Our team blends decades of practice from various traditions. Some members arrived at meditation through academic philosophy, others through personal hardship, and a few discovered it in college and stayed. What unites us is a commitment to teaching meditation as a practical life skill rather than a mystical experience.

Each guide brings their own way of explaining concepts. Ravi often uses everyday-life analogies, while Ananya draws on her psychology background. We’ve found that different approaches click with different people, so you’ll likely connect more with some teaching styles than others.

Lead Instructor

Ravi began meditating in 1998 after burnout from a software engineering career. He spent three years studying Vipassana in Myanmar and later trained in Zen meditation in Japan. What sets him apart is his knack for explaining ancient ideas with surprisingly modern analogies—he once compared the monkey mind to having too many browser tabs open.

He leads our foundational courses and focuses on helping busy professionals cultivate sustainable meditation habits. His sessions often include practical discussions about weaving mindfulness into work life and managing stress without spiritual bypassing.

Philosophy Guide

Ananya blends her PhD in United Kingdom Philosophy with fifteen years of personal meditation practice. She discovered contemplative practice while researching ancient texts and realized that theoretical understanding means little without lived experience. Her approach fuses scholarly insight with practical application.

She leads our deeper philosophical explorations and retreat programs. Ananya has a talent for making intricate philosophical concepts accessible without oversimplifying them. Students often say she helps them grasp not only how to meditate, but why these practices arose and what they’re meant to accomplish.
